Hairdressers
...if you are an employee hairdresser some of the deductions you may be able to claim are identified below.
  • Special hair dressing vests, aprons and protective shoes – but not conventional clothing and footwear such as shirts, trousers, sports shoes and joggers.
  • Decline in value of scissors, electric clippers, combs, curlers, razors which you supply yourself – but not if these items are supplied by your employer.
  •  Cost of attending competitions, conferences, seminars, shows and training including registration fees to attend a course organised by a hairdressing association – but not if your employer or any other person reimbursed you for the costs.
  • Photographs prepared as part of a competition or photos required as part of your apprenticeship training – but not if the photos are taken for private purposes.
