Hospitality Industry Employees
if you are an employee hospitality worker including an employee chef, cook, waiter or bartender some of the deductions you may be able to claim are identified below.  
  • Traditional chef’s uniform including checked pants, chef's shirt, chef's hat and a chef's white jacket - but not conventional or ordinary everyday clothing.
  • Decline in value of chef knives and equipment - but not if the equipment is supplied by your employer or your employer reimbursed you for the costs.
  • Gaming licence, renewing your special employees licence - but not the cost of obtaining your initial special employees licence. 
  • Responsible serving of alcohol course, responsible gaming course, gaming and keno updates, Australian hotelier's association conferences - but not if your employer or any other person reimbursed you for the costs.
