Journalists
...if you are an employee journalist or a radio or television presenter some of the deductions you may be able to claim are identified below.
  • Sunglasses, sunhats and sunscreen lotions – if the nature of your work requires you to work in the sun for all or part of the day and you use these items to protect yourself from the sun at work.
  •  Internet access for the 'time usage cost' of researching a story on the Internet, including the work-related portion of the service provider's recurrent costs or costs associated with accessing secure Internet sites - but not the cost of installing or connecting to the internet.
  •  Pay TV access payments - but not if the access is not work-related.
  • Newspapers and magazines used for researching a topic - but not those purchased for private purposes.
  • Social functions where you are required, as an employee journalist, to report on that particular social function.
