Police Officers
...if you are an employee police officer some of the deductions you may be able to claim are identified below. 
  •  Additional ammunition, bullet proof jackets and vests or body armour, gauntlets, holsters, handgrips, handcuffs, holders, pouches, utility belts, gun cleaning materials and other equipment used for work-related or training activities - but not equipment supplied and replaced by your employer. 
  • Decline in value of additional and/or more sophisticated guns, diving equipment and equestrian related equipment - but not items supplied and replaced by the Police Department. 
  • Informant payments made during the course of duty - but not payments reimbursed to you by the Police Department. 
  •  Fitness expenses (specific) - but not for maintaining general fitness. 
  •  Safety glasses - but not prescription glasses or contact lenses.
  • Sunglasses, sunhats and sunscreen lotions – if the nature of your work requires you to work in the sun for all or part of the day and you use these items to protect yourself from the sun at work. 
  • Physical training clothing unique and distinctive to the Police Department - but not conventional physical training clothing. 
  • Premiums that are paid in addition to the cost of a standard licence required for work purposes - but not the cost of acquiring or renewing a driver's licence.
