Truck Drivers
...if you are an employee truck driver some of the deductions you may be able to claim are identified below.
  • Steel capped boots and overalls for protection from grease.
  • Sunglasses, sunhats and sunscreen lotions – if the nature of your work requires you to work in the sun for all or part of the day and you use these items to protect yourself from the sun at work.
  • Premiums that are paid in addition to the cost of a standard licence required for work purposes - but not the cost of acquiring or renewing a driver's licence.
  • Truck repairs, cleaning and spillage - but not if you were reimbursed by your employer.
  • Parking fees, bridge and road tolls from your depot and a client's depot - but not costs for travel to and from work.
  • Decline in value of CB radio, portable refrigerator, and sleeping bag used in your truck.
